11-14-24   THOUGHTS

In our Wednesday evening class, we are pressing the idea of  “making room in our hearts for the Lord.”  We are trying to practically seek ways of doing that.  Two words resound loudly in our reading today.  REST and WAIT are powerful root words as we consider making more room for God in our lives.  Busyness and Distraction are OCCUPYING FOES to our making room for God!  Satan authors this lie!  Deut 6:5-6  “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:”   The words DELIGHT, COMMIT and TRUST in verses 4-5 below speak volumes.  The  “ALLS”  in Deut 6 indicate degrees of intensity and diligence demanded in this process.  God is God!  We are talking about Him be OUR GOD!  God desires RELATIONSHIP with us!  We must let that happen!  MAKE ROOM IN YOUR HEART!  

Ps 37:1-9     Do not fret because of evildoers, Be not envious toward wrongdoers.  2  For they will wither quickly like the grass And fade like the green herb. 3  Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. 4  Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. 5  Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. 6  He will bring forth your righteousness as the light And your judgment as the noonday. 7   Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him;  Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. 8  Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing. 9  For evildoers will be cut off, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.

My Prayer:
Father God, we want You in our hearts continually.  We desire a close relationship with You as we walk this life.  Create in us clean hearts, O God, that there would be marvelous and ample room for you in us.  Renew right spirits within us.  Teach us to wait, O God of heaven.  Distract us from our distractions with Yourself, O Father.  Fill our hearts with Your overwhelming love.
Teach our hearts and lips to overflow with Your great love, as we bear the fruits of righteousness.      In the name of the One who saves us,    Amen.
